US Iran trilateral talks

Historic Face-to-Face Trilateral US-Iran Peace Talks Begin in Pakistan

Historic peace talks officially began in Islamabad today. The United States, Iran, and Pakistan launched face-to-face trilateral negotiations.

Top officials desperately want to end the devastating Middle East war. These direct, in-person meetings represent a major diplomatic shift.

Previously, Washington and Tehran negotiated only through mediators in separate rooms.

Key Leaders Launch Direct Negotiations

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hosted the initial meetings today. He met with American and Iranian leaders separately first.

US Vice President JD Vance leads the American delegation. Envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner accompany Vice President Vance.

Parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf leads the Iranian negotiating team. Sharif hopes these engagements create a stepping stone toward durable peace.

Iran Outlines Strict Demands and Preconditions

Iranian state media confirmed the start of these direct negotiations. The talks began after Israel reduced military strikes on southern Beirut.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei outlined Iran's primary demands today. Baghaei called a Lebanon ceasefire a basic, non-negotiable demand.

Iran wants America to lift all longtime economic sanctions immediately. They demand compensation for previous strikes and an end to attacks.

Tehran also demands the complete withdrawal of American military forces.

Resolving Complex Nuclear and Proxy Issues

Negotiators face several difficult and highly complex security issues. America questions the status of Iran's enriched uranium stockpile.

Tehran currently blocks United Nations inspectors from examining nuclear sites. Israel worries heavily about Iran's ballistic missile development program.

Iran's active support for armed regional proxies remains a massive hurdle.

US Warships Transit the Strait of Hormuz

Two American guided-missile destroyers successfully navigated the Strait of Hormuz. The Navy completed this transit without coordinating with Iranian authorities.

President Donald Trump quickly addressed this military maneuver on social media. He claimed America has started clearing out the strategic waterway.

Trump called this action a favor to global economic allies. He mocked nations like China and France for lacking courage.

Trump also noted dangerous Iranian sea mines still pose significant threats.

Trump Promotes American Energy Exports

The recent Strait closure disrupted global oil and gas supplies heavily. Trump portrayed this global crisis as a win for American energy.

He announced massive oil tankers are currently sailing toward the United States. He expects foreign nations to purchase American oil and gas.

Increased global demand could unfortunately raise domestic prices for consumers.

Israel Continues Heavy Strikes on Hezbollah

The Israeli military escalated its offensive operations in Lebanon today. Fighter jets struck over 200 Hezbollah targets in just 24 hours.

The air force destroyed numerous rocket launchers and terror infrastructure. However, Lebanese officials announced a potential diplomatic breakthrough recently.

Leaders will meet in Washington next week to discuss a ceasefire.
