Saudi Arabia Fines 23 Pharmacies Over Strict Medicine Rules
The Saudi Food and Drug Authority recently fined 23 pharmacies. These businesses failed to follow strict drug supply and tracking rules.
Officials demanded over one million Saudi Riyals from the violators.
Skipping the Electronic Tracking System
The authority checked pharmacy records between February and March 2026. The facilities failed to report crucial activities to the Rasd system.
This electronic system tracks medicines from factories to final consumers. The advanced technology ensures consistent availability of important drugs nationwide.
Detailing the Supply Violations
Five pharmacies failed to report medicine movements in real time. Nine stores ignored rules regarding expected medicine shortages.
Pharmacies must notify regulators six months before any supply disruption. Seven facilities simply refused to provide their registered pharmaceutical products.
Two stores completely failed to maintain minimum required stock levels. They did not restock their missing inventory within three months.
Imposing Heavy Financial Penalties
The authority fined these non-compliant pharmacies exactly 1,232,700 Saudi Riyals. The government enforces strict pharmaceutical and herbal establishment laws daily.
Regulators can fine violating businesses up to five million Riyals. The authority can also close bad pharmacies for 180 days.
Officials may even revoke operating licenses for severe legal violations.
