Oman-UAE Meetings Discuss Agriculture Imports, Exports

The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MoAF) recently hosted a delegation from the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment in the UAE.

The MoAF side, headed by H E Dr Ahmed bin Nasser al Breiki, Undersecretary, held a number of coordinative meetings with the Emirati delegation, with focus being on agricultural imports and exports.

Several MoAF directors and heads of departments attended the meetings. 
Eng Saif Mohammed al Shara, Undersecretary in the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, led the Emirati delegation which included members from the ministry, Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council and Dubai Municipality.

During the meetings, a number of issues were discussed regarding the import and export of vegetables and fruits between the two countries and the approved mechanisms for the export and import of agricultural items and phytosanitary certificates for exported and re-exported consignments.

The meetings also discussed the required mechanisms for reporting any violations, in addition to dwelling on the farmers’ procedures which follow good agricultural practices.

The Emirati delegation visited a number of labs including the agricultural and animal research laboratory in Rumais in the wilayat of Barka, and some farms in Batinah governorates.
