Arab Towns Organization Launches 20th Conference In Dhofar Governorate

Fostering Sustainable Arab Cities

The 20th General Conference of the Arab Towns Organization officially began today. The Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment hosted the massive event in Salalah. Organizers chose the highly relevant theme "More Innovative and Sustainable Cities" for the gathering. His Highness Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said sponsored the prestigious conference. He serves as the Governor of Dhofar. Numerous prominent Arab mayors, governors, and municipal leaders attended the opening session. The conference aims to promote vital cooperation and knowledge exchange among Arab countries. Leaders want to achieve sustainable development and improve the quality of life in urban centers.

Dhofar Showcases Urban Innovation

The agenda covers urban development, digital transformation, and the future of city planning. The city of Riyadh officially handed over the presidency of the session to the Dhofar municipality. Participants emphasized the absolute necessity of building highly resilient and sustainable Arab cities. Officials presented a detailed visual presentation showcasing the rapid urban development within Dhofar Governorate. The presentation highlighted recent infrastructure projects, digital transformation initiatives, and municipal sustainability efforts. His Excellency Dr. Ahmed bin Mohsen Al Ghassani delivered a powerful keynote speech. He serves as the Chairman of Dhofar Municipality and the current session president. He stressed that hosting this conference reflects the deep, historical strength of Arab relations.

Kuwait Applauds Regional Progress

He noted that modern city management requires accurate data, digital tools, and total transparency. Arab cities must employ modern planning tools to keep pace with rapid global transformations. His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah sent a formal message to the conference. He rules as the Emir of the State of Kuwait. His Excellency Bader Wael Bader Al-Ajil Al-Askar delivered the message to the attendees. The Emir praised the vital role the organization plays in supporting regional urban development. Kuwait proudly serves as the permanent headquarters for the Arab Towns Organization. The council held several dialogue sessions discussing cybersecurity, smart mobility, and municipal empowerment.
