BP Oman And Oman Sail Launch Third Edition Of Sail Free Program

Empowering Athletes With Disabilities

BP Oman partnered with Oman Sail to launch an inspiring sports initiative. They officially introduced the third edition of the “Sail Free” program today. This incredible program aims to empower people with disabilities through professional sailing. It enhances their sports participation while developing technical and essential life skills. Officials signed the partnership agreement at the Children’s Public Library. Najla bint Zuhair Al Jamali signed on behalf of BP Oman. Dr. Khamis bin Salem Al Jabri signed on behalf of Oman Sail. The third edition builds upon the massive successes achieved by previous iterations.

Developing Independence And Skill

The program provides participants with opportunities to learn complex sailing techniques. They progress through training courses to reach highly advanced competitive levels. The new version focuses heavily on developing both sailing and life skills. Participants learn valuable lessons about teamwork, leadership, self-confidence, and personal independence. Trainers provide a completely safe environment tailored to the needs of the participants. This inclusive approach promotes equal opportunities and highlights hidden athletic talents. Since its launch in 2019, the program has introduced hundreds to sailing. It contributed directly to establishing the first national Paralympic sailing team.

Preparing For Global Competitions

Many participants now compete regularly in local and international sailing competitions. Oman Sail will host the World Sailing Championship for People with Disabilities in 2025. The massive event takes place at the prestigious Al Musannah Sailing School. More than 100 sailors from around the world will compete there.
