DON’T USE FIREWORKS DURING EID AL FITR CELEBRATION, SAYS ROP

The ROP has warned the public against using fireworks during the Eid al Fitr celebrations. There will be close surveillance of borders to prevent smuggling of fireworks into the sultanate.

“Those trying to smuggle fireworks would be tracked down and legal action initiated against them,” said Col Said bin Ahmed al Sharafi from the Buraimi Police Command.

He added, “Surveillance will be stepped up in various areas expected to be crowded such as mosques, public parks as well as residential neighbourhoods.”

On the efforts of the Buraimi Police Command, Col Sharafi said that the police command will start a programme to raise awareness of the dangers of fireworks, pointing out that this will continue until the third day of Eid al Fitr.

He urged parents to monitor their children and keep them away from playing with firecrackers.
