Government lays out key guidelines for taxis in Oman

The taxi driver must abide by the following:
A. adhere to the Omani dress
Non smoking inside the vehicle
Good handling of passengers
Operation of the calculation of the fare (counter) allocated to the vehicle
Preservation of items left by the owners inside the vehicle, which should be delivered to the official at the facility or at the nearest police station.

General Conditions to be followed.
The licensee must carry out the taxi activity and abide by the following:
Install a meter to calculate the fare in the taxi, and work to calibrate the counter of calculating the fare every (6) six months by the authorized agent and keep a certificate in the vehicle.
Install a tracking system in the taxi.
Installation of a light panel at the top of the taxi is identical to the form approved by the Ministry and is fully connected to the meter to light up in the absence of the meter.
The preparation of the means of road transport (taxi) with two identification plates, one of which is shown in a visible place for the passenger in the front seat and the other behind the driver’s seat, and are in the form and conditions approved by the ministry and include the number of the vehicle operation card and plate number and name of the establishment or individual /
Providing computers and computer systems in the establishment to monitor the taxi activity and be linked to the guidance and tracking systems for vehicles and information centers specified by the Ministry.
If a road transport is requested and then changes the application for any reason, he / she must pay the application fee specified in the full fare.
