Minimum salaries for Omanis in private sector

Around 51.8 per cent of Omanis working in the private sector get monthly wages in the range of OMR325 and OMR500, according to the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

Out of a total of 258,536 Omanis working in the private sector, 133,976 earned between OMR325 and OMR500 by the end of May. The NCSI reported that the unemployment rate for Omanis between the ages of 25 and 29 dropped 13.6 per cent over the last month.

The statistics also showed that the number of Omanis who earn salaries of more than OMR2000 stood at 13,670, which constitutes 5 per cent of the total number of workers.

Moreover, 32.3 per cent of Omanis registered with the Public Authority of Social Insurance (PASI) were working in Muscat governorate by the end of May.

 

60,000 Omani workers were employed in the construction sector by the end of April, followed by 37,000 workers in the retail sector.
