Ministry Nears Complete Finish on Massive Wadi Bani Khalid Mountain Road

Executing a Phenomenal Engineering Feat

The Ministry of Transport nears the final completion of a massive infrastructure project. The spectacular Wadi Bani Khalid mountain pass road reached a 98 percent completion rate. This vital roadway spans nine kilometers across the North Al Sharqiyah Governorate. The government invested more than 13 million Omani riyals into this phenomenal project. The new route connects the Manakh area directly to the village of Mazir’a.

Boosting Regional Tourism and Safety

Abdul Aziz bin Fahd Al-Nassiri directs the regional roads department. He expects the project to drastically improve local transportation and tourism. Engineers added special traffic safety elements to navigate the challenging mountainous terrain. They reduced the dangerous slope rates compared to the old mountain route. Workers also widened the road to 12 full meters for easier passing.

Adding Scenic Stops for Visitors

The construction crews installed 30 massive water drainage culverts to prevent seasonal flooding. They also constructed three beautiful scenic rest areas for passing tourists. Visitors can safely pull over and photograph the stunning mountain views. These safe parking zones prevent dangerous random stops along the busy highway. The ministry expects to officially open the road by the end of this year.
