Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries Launches 12 Mobile Veterinary Clinics

With the addition of 12 more clinics, the Second stage of the mobile veterinary clinics project has was launched on Wednesday by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. There are a total of 29 such clinics after this addition. The first stage of the project to give livestock with veterinary care was successful as seen by the ministry which inspired them to launch the second stage in the country’s remotest parts.

The Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries has launched the project’s second phase that costs around RO304,000. Interestingly, the Petroleum Development Oman is the entity that is funding this initiative.

The MoAF has stated that the mobile veterinary clinics have facilities and tools for treatment, diagnostics and immunisations and to conduct operations so as to deliver veterinary services for people staying in remote areas.

As per the words of the Director General of the Animal Resources at the ministry, large mobile veterinary clinics with laboratory facilities were allocated in the first stage. Large number of breeders were able to access the services of these Mobile units (vans) for treating their animals that were deployed to the areas far away from fixed clinics. The second phase would have small sized vehicles that would have no lab facilities and is assigned for operations and treatment to have far reach to the breeders.
