OCCI welcomes decision to exempt expats from fees and fines

The ministerial decision to exempt expat workers from all fees and fines will reduce the burden on private sector companies and institutions from bearing additional financial costs, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) said.

His Excellency Eng. Ridha bin Jumaa Al Saleh, OCCI Chairman, appreciated the Ministry of Labour’s decision and said, "This decision will regulate the labour market and contribute greatly to adopting new policies that protect the market from illegal workers and reduce the burden on private sector companies and institutions from bearing additional financial burdens in return for reducing the number of their workers in light of the current economic conditions."
