Oman closely monitoring possible tropical depression off Arabian Sea

Muscat: The tropical disturbance in the Arabian Sea is likely to deepen into a tropical depression in the next 24 hours. However, there will be no impact on the coast of Oman, according to Public Authority for Civil Aviation.

According to an alert published by PACA, said: ”The maps of weather forecasts indicate the possibility of tropical depression moving eastward towards the Indian coasts with the possibility of deepening into a deep tropical depression in the next 24 hours and moving westward towards the center of the sea. There is no impact on the coast of Oman in the next 4 days.”

“The analysis of the National Early Warning Center shows several risks to form a tropical depression east of the Arabian Sea near the Indian coasts on Thursday, October 24, 2019. It estimates the surface wind speed around the center (17-27 knots) and is stationed at latitude 16 degrees north and longitude 70 degrees east It is about 200 kilometers from the Indian coast and about 1400 kilometers from the nearest point of the Sultanate's coast.” PACA added.
