Oman Ministry of Information Prepares ’Dukhtar Tomas’ Documentary

The Ministry of Information will launch an exciting new documentary film soon. The film “Dr. Thoms” beautifully documents the amazing biography of an American doctor.

Locals affectionately knew Dr. Wells Thoms as “Dukhtar Tomas.” He remains one of the most prominent historical figures in Omani health services.

A Unique Cinematic Treatment

The film masterfully combines historical narrative with reenacted dramatic scenes. It features rare archival material and beautiful live filming from Oman and America.

The documentary chronicles the early beginnings of Dr. Thoms’s inspiring medical journey. He witnessed the terrible suffering of leprosy and infectious disease patients in Oman.

He eventually dedicated his entire life to medical and humanitarian work across the Sultanate.

Documenting Important Medical Milestones

The film covers many important milestones throughout his amazing life. It highlights his incredible work developing the Al Rahma Hospital.

It also covers his specialized medical trips to various states across Oman. Directors based the film on powerful interviews with researchers and academic experts.

They also conducted special interviews with members of the doctor’s family in America.

International Filming and Production

Film crews traveled to Florida, Kansas, and Michigan to document his family life. Specialized studios in London completed the final color grading and sound mixing.

The film beautifully blends history, drama, and deep human dimension together perfectly. It documents a truly crucial aspect of the health sector's development in Oman.
