Oman to Introduce Electric Bike Rides for this Tourist Season

For tourists and residents who wish to take in the charm and culture of Oman at their own pace,the local travel agent TravelPoint has partnered with two Omani entrepreneurs to import three-wheeled scooters, colloquially called trikes, from the United States, with three routes mapped out introduced for the first time in the Sultanate.

Imported with the aim of building up to Oman’s traditional tourism season, which begins around September and October, TravelPoint began promoting trikes since May 2017 .

The Excursion Tour is slightly shorter, and takes tourists to Muttrah Castle,Muttrah Souq, the overlook and back while the Adventure Tour, takes visitors across the Muttrah Souq, to the overlook above Riyam Park and into old Muscat, which is proving to be the most popular so far.

TravelPoint has launched a A Fun Tour which takes visitors on a ride across Shatti beach and Love Street and the Grand Hyatt hotel, before finishing the same at Crowne Plaza Hotel.

One could see the old houses and go up the mountains and enjoy a really panoramic view apart from the usual Corniche and the souq.Interestingly, these bikes at a time, can run for about four to five hours.
