Oman’s National Biscuits loses OMR 70,000 in internet fraud

Muscat: National Biscuits Industries has been presented to an online extortion when an exchange of Euros 169,799 (OMR 70,090) was done from its records. 

The organization said in a divulgence to the Muscat Securities Market (MSM) on Tuesday: "Misleading space of the organization just as one of the organization's hardware providers were made by unapproved people with malafide goals. Email messages were unwittingly traded between workers of the organization and the hardware provider through such tricky area email addresses." 

The announcement included: "During this procedure, the organization had gotten an email for change of financial balance of the provider. After due confirmation of bank records, an installment of EUR 160,799 was moved to the mentioned new financial balance and the hardware was additionally gotten from the provider in great working condition." 

In this way, the apparatus provider educated the organization that they had neither mentioned change of ledger nor got the installment. The two gatherings at that point become mindful of the deception. 

 

The two gatherings have started legitimate measures to recoup the above sum. Then the organization has fortified its inside control framework including its IT control system to stay away from repeat and limit dangers.
