Royal Decree: Sultan Haitham Grants Omani Citizenship to 226 Individuals
Sultan Haitham bin Tariq issued a new royal decree yesterday. He gladly granted Omani citizenship to 226 fortunate individuals.
Officials published Royal Decree 46 of 2026 in the Official Gazette. This exciting decision follows the strict national citizenship laws perfectly.
Standard Residency and Language Rules
Applicants must reside in Oman continuously for 15 years. They cannot leave the country for more than 90 days annually.
Candidates must speak Arabic proficiently and maintain good personal conduct. The government demands a completely clean criminal record from everyone.
Applicants must prove their good health and show stable income sources. They must also formally renounce their previous nationalities in writing.
Special Rules for Spouses and Children
The law outlines specific pathways for spouses of Omani citizens. Foreign men who marry Omani women face a 10-year residency requirement.
These men must have children and meet all financial rules. Foreign women who marry Omani men wait only eight years.
Widows can apply after six years of continuous residency. Children typically acquire citizenship directly through their Omani fathers.
Sometimes, children gain citizenship through their Omani mothers instead.
Strict Penalties for Fraud
The government maintains strict rules regarding citizenship revocation and fraud. Authorities will revoke citizenship if someone acquires another nationality illegally.
Committing state security crimes also triggers immediate citizenship withdrawal. Officials punish fraudulent applications with severe fines and jail time.
Liars face one to three years in prison. Judges also impose fines up to 10,000 Omani Rials.
