Oman National Team Departs for Japan to Compete in Asian Para Games

Heading to Nagoya for International Competition

The national team delegation for people with disabilities left Muscat International Airport today. The athletes are officially heading to Japan for the Asian Para Games. The vibrant city of Nagoya will host these exciting international games. The sporting events will run from October 15 to October 25. The athletes successfully completed their rigorous internal and external training programs.

Announcing the Track and Field Roster

The delegation includes talented track and field athletes. They will compete in various throwing and running competitions. Dedicated administrative and technical staff members accompany the team. The talented roster features Mohammed Al-Mashaikhi, Taha Al-Harasi, and Mutasim Al-Saadi. Talib Al-Balushi, Muhanna Awlad Thani, and Fawzi Al-Habishi also join the squad. Mohammed Al-Qasimi, Iman Al-Shamsi, and Rawan Al-Hasaniya complete this impressive athletic list.

Leadership Arrives Early in Japan

Dr. Mansour bin Sultan Al Touqi leads the entire Omani delegation. He serves as the President of the Omani Paralympic Committee. Dr. Al Touqi arrived in Japan earlier this week. Running coach Abdullah Al Anbari traveled with him. Three talented runners, Qusay Al Rawahi, Othman Al Habsi, and Saif Al Muqaili, joined them. Handcycling star Sami Al Salimi also traveled early. Cycling coach Sivan Hoffman and administrator Adnan Al Owaidi accompanied the early group.

Completing Rigorous Global Training Camps

The national Paralympic teams trained vigorously across the globe recently. The athletes attended specialized training camps in Poland and Thailand. They also trained at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher. Sami Al-Sulaimi completed a special handcycling camp in Jabal Hat. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth fully supports these athletes. They provide vital funding through the Promising Athletes Program.

Adapting to Climatic Conditions

Throwing competitors participated in two preparatory tournaments during the Poland camp. The Thailand camp helped running athletes adapt to humid climatic conditions. These weather conditions perfectly mimic the expected atmosphere in Japan. The internal Omani camps successfully raised overall physical and technical readiness.

Enhancing Handcycling Endurance

Al-Sulaimi focused heavily on hill and downhill training in Jabal Hat. He enhanced his overall endurance and physical fitness for the Asian competitions. He previously competed in the Brighton Challenge Championship in France. The cyclist also earned third place at the recent Asian Championship. These international camps form an integrated national athletic preparation plan. Coaches want to develop the technical and physical levels of every player. The committee expects positive results during the Asian Para Games.
