The actress made her acting debut with Sathyan Anthikkad's Malayalam film ‘Narendran Makan Jayakanthan Vaka’, Asin had her first commercial success with the Telugu film ‘Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi’ in 2003, and won a Filmfare Best Telugu Actress Award for the film. M. Kumaran S/O Mahalakshmi (2004) was her debut in Tamil and a huge success. She received her Filmfare Best Tamil Actress Award for her most noted critically acclaimed performance in her third Tamil film, ‘Ghajini’. She then played the lead female roles in many successful films, the most notable being the action ‘Sivakasi’, the dramatic thriller ‘Varalaru’, the action thriller ‘Pokkiri’, the romantic drama ‘Vel’ and ‘Dasavathaaram’ opposite Kamal Haasan and Kaavalan, and hence established herself as the leading actress of Tamil cinema and was also honoured by the Tamil Nadu government with the Kalaimamani award for her excellence in the field of art and literature. The actress can speak seven languages; being well-versed in Malayalam (her mother tongue), Tamil, Telugu, Sanskrit, English, Hindi, and French. She married co-founder of big mobile brand Rahul Sharma in January 2016. She welcomed her first child on October 24, 2017.

She was Indian model, film actress and dancer who mainly appeared in Hindi films. She was one of the highest paid actresses of her times. Her appearance in a Tamil film, paired with Prabu fetched her more credits. Meenakshi has appeared in a range of movies from comedy, drama, and action to romance. After the release of her film ‘Ghatak’, she left the film industry to raise her children and resides in the US, with her husband and children. She has been partially active in the US, where she runs her dance school ‘Cherish Dance School’. Recently, a documentary was also made on her life called ‘Meenakshi Accept Her Wings’. She appeared in many critically acclaimed films in 1986, mainly ‘Swati’, a woman-centric art house film; she performed the title role amongst an ensemble cast. The film gained immense critical acclaim and many critics said Meenakshi Seshadri has acted in ‘Swati’ the way Amitabh Bachchan acts in his films. Her pairing with Mithun Chakraborty one as both were great dancers and complimented each other in ‘Aandhi Toofan’, ‘Main Balwan’, ‘Dilwaala, Parivaar’, ‘Bees Saal Baad’, ‘Pyar Ka Karz’ and ‘Shandaar’. She also had the privilege to work with Dilip Kumar in his directorial debut ‘Kalinga’. Meenakshi was chosen by Dilip Kumar to enact the main role in the film. After a few years of her marriage, she shifted her base to the US.
