The leading cause of this disease is poor lifestyle habits, which damage the kidney and affect their ability to filter blood, resulting in waste piling up inside the body.

CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE: Chronic kidney disease is among one of the most common kidney diseases. It leads to progressive loss in the function of kidney, ranging from a period of a few months to years; it affects about 10 per cent of the world’s population.

REASON: More than 50 percent of chronic kidney disease patients in India are due to obesity as per a Pan-India report. The recent study reflects a large increase in chronic kidney disease (CKD) however, In India there is no study and minimal data on the prevalence of chronic kidney disease. You'd be alarmed to know that the leading reason for CKD is obesity - especially abdominal obesity, which is pretty common among Indians.
A study revealed that 48 per cent of men and 63 per cent of women have a waist circumference beyond the accepted cut-offs for the Asian population, thus, making them prone to kidney diseases.

Kidney disease progresses to an advanced stage by the time the patients develop any of the following symptoms - weakness and fatigue, pain while urinating, swelling, frequency or urination, lower back pain, lack of appetite, vomiting and nausea and itching and skin rashes all over the body.

Therefore, medications have to be carefully selected for women of child-bearing age. Pregnancy in itself carries risks for both the woman with CKD and her unborn child."
