Why You Should Avoid Putting The Watermelon In The Fridge?

Recent research has shown that all of us who want cold watermelon directly from the refrigerator, we make a big mistake.

As stated, the watermelon should be kept at room temperature to keep all the nutrients it has. When it’s cold, it loses most of its vitamins and nutrients.

Another thing that has been discovered is that the watermelon continues to produce vitamins and nutrients and after it is picked, but again – only if it is at room temperature.

When we put it in the refrigerator, this process is significantly reduced.

As part of the research, several watermelons were left at 21, 12 and 5 degrees, and it turned out that those who were kept at 21 degrees, have 40% more lycopene and 50 to 139% more beta carotene.

Watermelon is a rich source of carotenoid compounds, such as lycopene and beta carotene, which are natural antioxidants linked to a number of health benefits, from fighting cancer to preventing sun-related skin damage.
