RIVER OF BLOOD Terrified baby cries in blood-soaked hospital after Syria airstrike kills eight civilians

A FRIGHTENED tot who sobbed his little heart out as he received medical care from a nurse in a blood-soaked hospital has captured the tragic extent of the Syrian regime.

At least eight innocent civilians have been killed in the airstrikes within the rebel-held Ghouta area of Damascus, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

At least 15 government soldiers were also killed in the blasts, as the new government assault took place.

The renewed strikes have left locals in the eastern suburbs of Damascus at the brink of famine, according to residents and aid workers.

Child malnutrition cases have almost doubled in the last two months in one clinic alone.

Dr Amani Ballour, a paediatrician in the area told Reuters: "There are children who we previously classified as at risk of malnutrition, who are now classified as medium-level acute malnutrition or extreme-level acute malnutrition cases."
