This viral ‘anaconda’ at railway station video is NOT from Dadar, Mumbai, but it’s scary anyway

No matter how scary snake photos or videos are, they’re always of much interest on social media, and we’re often found sharing media of the slimy creatures. Well, a scary ‘anaconda’ video has recently surfaced across multiple social media platforms – WhatsApp, Youtube and even Twitter – that has everyone on tenterhooks. The viral video shows the big snake climbing a pole at a busy railway station with scores of spectators recording it on their mobile phone cameras.

While on WhatsApp and Youtube, the video is going viral with people claiming the big snake was spotted at the Dadar station in mid-town Mumbai, this claim has been denied by the authorities. “There is no such incident reported. No railway station in Mumbai has recorded of this incident,” Nitin Bhogade, senior Government Railway  Police (GRP) officer at Dadar station, told The Indian Express.

We have neither been able to ascertain where the footage is from nor if it has been morphed; and even though many have questioned the authenticity of the video, the fear factor and amazement at the reptile coiling on an iron column at a railway station has people riveted and they are enthusiastically sharing the video with their contacts.
