Everyone has fallen victim to the dreaded pop-up ‘not enough storage’ alert on the iPhone – it’s breakdown inducing stuff.

There are many ways to fill up an iPhone that may mean you miss out on taking some cool photo because you are limited for space.

 

Freeing up space on the iPhone is notoriously hard and Apple make it so, on Android phones you simply insert a larger memory chip but with an iPhone, there is no way of doing this.

However, there are some incredibly innovative hacks that can leave you with free space that you could never dream of.

Stop saving all your messages

You haven’t manually saved every message you have ever received but do you want to?

When you turn on an iPhone for the first time it comes with certain default settings, and sometimes they are secretly the reason behind your memory saving problem.

So your message app on the iPhone which stores all the conversations you have with people over text message, as in SMS and imessage which is the Apple to Apple message system.

our immediate conversations you obviously want to see, but messages from six months ago may be useless to you.

Imagine you probably have around two years of useless messages on your phone.

Enter the Settings app and scroll down to ‘messages’, then when you enter this menu scroll down to ‘message history’.

Here you have the option to keep your messages, forever which is what Apple’s default option is, or to only keep your messages for a limited time like 30 days or one year.

This means your phone deletes messages older than the time frame, constantly freeing up memory for you.
