IPL 2018, KKR vs MI: Ishan Kishan hits ’helicopter shot’ like MS Dhoni

The Mumbai Indians took on the Kolkata Knight Riders in a crucial league phase match as both teams looked to inch closer towards securing a place in the playoffs. MI had emerged winners when the two sides had met earlier in the competition last week in Mumbai and this time in Kolkata, they were put in to bat and proved their class yet again as they came up with a mammoth score of 210/6 in their quota of 20 overs.

Their destructor-in-chief was wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan, who scored a devastating 62 runs off just 21 balls, which included four straight sixes off the bowling of Kuldeep Yadav in the 14th over. He reached his fifty in just 17 balls, which is the joint second-fastest this season after KL Rahul, who scored a 50 off just 12 balls against CSK.

His four-six blitz consisted of some massive shots on the leg side, with the last one being the classiest of the lot. Having thrashed three big maximums already, Kishan walked across his stumps to whip the ball over the deep mid-wicket fence with an effortless flick of the wrist. His follow-through and technique seemed an exact mirror image of MS Dhoni's famed helicopter shot as well! Watch the video here:

It is worth pointing out that both Dhoni and Kishan play for the same state (Jharkhand) at domestic level and Kishan has often been compared to the senior figure. If this shot is anything to go by, Kishan does have the ability to step into Dhoni's shoes!
