Oman Upgrades Power Networks in Flood-Prone Valleys
The Public Services Regulatory Authority recently issued clear directives to improve local infrastructure. Upgrading electrical networks in valley pathways is now a top priority.
These high-quality projects will greatly improve safety and long-term reliability.
Rebuilding Vulnerable Infrastructure
Nama Electricity Distribution Company just completed comprehensive assessments on valley electrical lines. Engineers currently design new plans to rebuild these vulnerable networks.
They will utilize highly enhanced technical standards for this task. This massive initiative will significantly boost network efficiency.
It also strengthens infrastructure resilience against severe flash floods.
The Wadi Fida Project
Chief Executive Officer Alaa Hassan Moussa announced several major active projects. Teams currently develop a completely new electrical network in Wadi Fida.
This project tackles longstanding challenges directly inside flood-prone areas. Existing concrete poles possess strong structures.
However, heavy rains and floods expose them to significant danger. Workers will replace these vulnerable concrete poles with sturdy iron ones.
They will position these new poles securely along safer valley routes. This smart redesign completely minimizes terrible flood damage.
It ensures an uninterrupted electricity supply for nearby communities.
Massive Financial Investments
The CEO allocated over 30 million Omani Rials for these vital efforts. This massive funding supports the quick relocation of affected infrastructure.
It also reinforces the electrical system and builds brand new substations. Engineer Alaa further revealed a massive portfolio of upcoming national projects.
The government will spend over 8 billion Rials across multiple utility sectors. This massive investment builds a highly resilient and sustainable infrastructure system.
Expanding Renewable Energy
Oman also actively advances a long-term renewable energy strategy. The government places a special emphasis on promising wind energy projects.
These massive wind projects will generate up to 6,500 megawatts. This output equals over half of the current national electricity capacity.
These developments perfectly align with the Oman Vision 2040 national objectives. The country plans to achieve 30 percent renewable energy by 2030.
