Omanday Weekly News Roundup: Oman Firms allowed to transfer expat employees directly

Since the last week the Sultanate has witnessed a lot of happenings in the country. Here are the top headlines as part of our weekly news roundup:

The Ministry of Manpower has launched a service for the benefit of the non-Omani workforce. The ministry said with this service the employer can transfer the services of his expatriate worker to the another employer without a review from the ministry.

 

First flight at new Muscat airport takeoff. A trial flight involving residents of the Sultanate has been scheduled for this morning, as part of the readiness trials currently being run by Oman Airports Management Company (OAMC) and Oman Air, the Sultanate’s national carrier.

 

The Ministry of Finance in Oman has postponed the decision to apply the ‘Value-Added Tax’ (VAT) until 2019, Oman TV reported on Monday quoting sources at the Ministry.

Oman beat Saudi Arabia 2-0 on Thursday to enter the semi-final of the 23rd Gulf Cup in Kuwait.

The first one was a self-goal from Saudi player Khalid Abul Baqi in the 67th minute while the second one was scored by Oman’s Said al Ruzaiqi in the 77th minute of second half. With six points Oman entered the semi-final while UAE entered semis after drawing Kuwait.
