Omanday Weekly News Roundup: To protect expat wages in Oman, New salary system to beginning this month

A lot has happened in Oman over the weekdays and hence here is a short recap of what happened through our weekly news roundup blow:

To ensure that all their employees are paid on time, the Ministry of Manpower’s (MOM) new wage protection system has to be relied on by the companies in Oman from this month onwards.To conform to the new system and ensure that their work systems are brought up to speed, three months have been allotted to the Organisations in Oman.

 

As announced by the Oman Airports Management Company (OAMC), at the Muscat International Airport there would be two new counters opened dedicated for quick baggage drop for passengers.To ensure a shorter wait time before flying,  the travel documents (ticket, boarding pass, visa, etc.) should be kept handy, and confirming their check-in online has to be done as reminded by the OAMC to the passengers.

To face the law or hire nationals are the outcomes to be faced by companies who are illegally bringing workers to Oman as per the words of an Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) official.Separate from the Ministry of Manpower and as a result of the Tanfeedh programmes, an independent fund will be established soon which might resolve many of these problems.

A pickup truck with a camel on the flatbed in rear, reversing along a beach was shown in the viral video short clip, apparently shot in Oman. The camel is flung from the rear of the truck into the sand as the driver of the truck brakes suddenly. Animal welfare groups have reacted harshly to this cruelty on the innocent camel and has vowed to protect them from further atrocities.

Royal Oman Police (ROP) tweeted on its official twitter handle about three people were killed in a road crash near Adam. When it collided with another vehicle 38 passengers were on board a bus heading towards Adam according to police.Police also added that with a total of 40 passengers involved in the crash, of which 39 were Yemeni nationals and one was Pakistani as both vehicles were having Abu Dhabi number plates.
