Sultan Haitham Issues Two New Royal Decrees

Sultan Haitham bin Tariq issued two important Royal Decrees recently. These official documents outline specific new diplomatic appointments and labor agreements.

Here are the complete details of both new decrees.

Royal Decree 41: New Diplomatic Appointments

Sultan Haitham issued Royal Decree Number 41 for 2026. This decree appoints three experienced diplomats as new non-resident ambassadors.

Ambassador Abdullah bin Nasser Al Rahbi represents Oman in Egypt currently. He will now also serve as the non-resident ambassador to Eritrea.

Dr Hilal bin Abdullah Al Sinani currently serves in Tunisia. He becomes the official non-resident ambassador to Libya.

Ambassador Nasra bint Salim Al Hashmi represents Oman in Kenya. She will officially represent Oman in Rwanda, Uganda, and Malawi too.

The government will enforce these rules immediately upon official publication.

Royal Decree 40: International Labor Ratification

The Sultan also issued Royal Decree Number 40 for 2026. This decree formally ratifies the 1986 International Labour Organisation Constitution amendment.

This major amendment significantly updates the ILO Governing Body structure. The new international rules expand the Governing Body to 112 seats.

Governments will hold 56 of these important representative seats. Employers and workers will each hold 28 dedicated seats.

The amendment also distributes government seats across four geographical regions. Africa, America, Asia, and Europe will share these seats fairly.

The General Conference can also admit new member states now. Two-thirds of attending delegates must approve any new member admissions.

Competent national authorities will deposit the official ratification documents soon.
