A Major Cultural Event Returns
The highly anticipated second Omani Chanting Festival will begin very soon. The historic Wilayat of Nizwa in Al Dakhiliyah will host the event. Performances will officially kick off on October 18 for eager local audiences. The beautiful cultural festival will continue running daily until October 21. His Excellency Sheikh Abdulmalik bin Abdullah Al Khalili will proudly sponsor the opening.
Supporting Local Artistic Talents
Ibrahim bin Saif Bani Araba works at the Ministry of Culture. He serves as the Assistant Director General of the Directorate General of Arts. He explained the history behind this exciting musical gathering. This second edition directly extends from the first festival held back in 2015. The Ministry works hard to support and highlight amazing Omani vocal talents.
Connecting Generations Through Art
The festival provides a highly specialized artistic space for local singers. It contributes significantly to developing their capabilities and public presence. The event represents a unique space where different generations and experiences meet. Organizers want to celebrate those who have enriched this specific vocal field. They also aim to introduce brand-new talents to the Omani cultural scene.
Hosting in the Historic Al-Aqr Neighborhood
Organizers specifically chose the Al-Aqr neighborhood to host this year's festival. This decision aligns perfectly with the deep historical heritage of the area. It represents a new experience undertaken by the Ministry of Culture. They want to provide the public with a unique educational opportunity. Attendees will learn more about both the neighborhood's heritage and the art.
Announcing the Final Competitors
The festival's official judging committee features several highly respected regional experts. Engineer Ahmed bin Abdullah Al-Shaibani will proudly head the judging panel this year. The Ministry previously announced the eight talented singers who qualified for the finals. Officials selected these finalists from a large pool of 39 original participants. The vocalists are all eager to showcase their incredible abilities.
Building on Past Successes
The first session of this festival took place over a decade ago. It successfully created an artistic space for vocalists to present their creativity. The festival now returns in 2026, building upon that initial positive experience. The art form has witnessed massive development in performance and production methods recently. Audiences can expect to hear amazing new voices and modern chanting techniques.
