1.Majuli

Majuli

 

Majuli means land between two parallel rivers. One of the largest river islands of the world is located in Assam on the banks of river Brahmaputra. The untarnished island represents nature at its best; it is serene and enriched with rich cultural heritage.It is feared, that the beautiful island will submerge in 15­20 years from now, due to the erosion of river Brahmaputra. Destruction of crops and houses followed by flooding in the region is making it difficult to survive.

It abodes the rare snow leopard and might give you a rare sight of this threatened species. These fascinating creatures are considered as members of the Panthera group and prefer wandering in high altitude rocky mountain ranges in the chilly weather. Around 200 to 600 of snow leopards present at Hemis. The park is located in the Eastern Ladakh region, north of the Himalayas.
