Bank of Japan meeting

Japanese Yen Stabilizes as Investors Await Bank of Japan Policy Meeting

Global currency markets shift as technology stocks face heavy sell-offs

Today, the Japanese yen stabilized across Asian markets. Investors are waiting for the Bank of Japan's latest monetary policy announcement. Meanwhile, the US dollar declined steadily. This drop closely followed the recent movement of US Treasury bond yields. Global markets recently saw a massive sell-off in artificial intelligence stocks. This sudden tech decline pushed many investors toward safe-haven assets like the yen. Financial experts expect the Bank of Japan to keep interest rates steady. The current rate sits at 1.25 percent today. They hold this position despite facing high inflationary pressures domestically. However, market analysts sense a hawkish tone from the central bank. Traders currently price in an 80 percent chance of a rate hike this December.

The yen dipped slightly to 157.815 against the dollar this morning. It remains on track to suffer a 0.2 percent loss this month. The euro also faced recent struggles in the global market. It last traded at 1.1185 dollars. The European currency previously hit its lowest level since May 2025. It faces a monthly decline of 1.2 percent. In contrast, the British pound showed strong resilience today. It rose 0.1 percent to reach 1.3390 dollars. The pound has successfully gained 1 percent since the month began. Currency traders continue to watch these central bank moves closely. The upcoming Japanese policy decision will certainly impact global trading floors.
