Oman Wins Bid to Host 2028 World Water Loss Conference

Oman won the bid to host a major global water conference. The Sultanate will host the 2028 International Water Loss Conference.

The International Water Association organizes this important biennial event. Oman becomes the first Middle Eastern country to host it.

Global experts will review innovative solutions to reduce water loss. They will exchange best practices to enhance distribution network efficiency.

Officials announced this exciting victory during the 2026 conference in Brazil. Oman currently adopts advanced technologies to manage its water sector.

Companies use artificial intelligence and digital twin systems effectively today. They expand proactive solutions in daily water network management continuously.

A Turning Point for Omani Infrastructure

Nama Water Services CEO Qais bin Saud Al Zakwani celebrated today. He called this hosting victory a qualitative turning point.

It shows immense international confidence in Omani scientific capabilities. Nama Water Services adopted an integrated water loss management system.

They link networks to smart systems for real-time data analysis. These tools detect leaks early and allow rapid emergency intervention.

The company reduced water loss to less than 33 percent recently. They saved over 35 million Omani Rials through these efforts.

They plan to reduce water loss to 30 percent this year. Ongoing water infrastructure projects currently exceed one billion Omani Rials.
