Sultan Qaboos University Launches Campaign Promoting Digital Identity And Values
Fostering Responsible Digital Citizenship
Sultan Qaboos University organized a forum today to launch a vital new awareness campaign. The initiative is titled “Our Values, Our Digital Identity.” His Highness Sayyid Dr. Fahd bin Al Julanda Al Said sponsored the event. He serves as the highly respected President of the university. The campaign aims to promote Omani values and identity within the modern digital environment. It seeks to spread the culture of digital citizenship and safe technology use. Organizers want to raise awareness regarding the protection of personal privacy and digital identity. The campaign also addresses the dangers of cyberbullying, online blackmail, and harmful digital content.
Developing Critical Thinking Skills
The program focuses on developing critical thinking skills when dealing with digital news and information. His Excellency Sheikh Ahmed bin Ali Al Shehhi affirmed the importance of this timely initiative. He noted it comes in direct response to the challenges posed by rapid digital transformations. Building a conscious personality is a shared responsibility between families, schools, and community institutions. Dr. Wafaa bint Saeed Al-Maamari explained the importance of promoting ethics among students. This protects their psychological security and preserves cultural and national values. She stressed the importance of building a generation guided by science and protected by values.
Targeting Students And Parents
The campaign is based on core values including belonging, safety, credibility, respect, and responsibility. The initiative will last for six months and target 500 male and female students. It will also target 140 parents through awareness, interactive, and community activities. The forum featured a short theatrical performance addressing these complex modern themes. It also included a dialogue session on digital upbringing and the impact of social media. The campaign represents a strong partnership between the university and relevant community institutions.
