One of the oldest driving licences in Oman, dating back to 1970, was donated to the National Museum by Dirk Ysselstyn, a citizen of the Netherlands.

Dirk, who used to reside in Mina Al Fahl in Muscat, had paid 10 gulf rupees (the currency at the time) for the licence, that was issued on April 7, 1970. The licence states that it could be used for a light motor vehicle and the expiration date for the document was December 13, 1973.

Dirk, who visited Oman after 48 years, expressed his admiration for the remarkable development of the country.

The National Museum tweeted a video that shows how well-maintained the licence is.
