Colored Bird’s Eye Art Exhibition Blends Literature and Visual Arts

A Unique Creative Collaboration

The “Colored Bird’s Eye” art exhibition officially opened in Muscat today. The Cultural Club organized the unique event in cooperation with the House of Reading. It serves as a creative extension of the “Bird’s Eye on the Short Story” program. The exhibition embodies the profound interaction between classical literature and the visual arts. It creates spaces that allow narrative texts to be read outside their original genres. This expands the circle of reception and allows different creative mediums to meet. The exhibition features approximately 38 stunning original artworks created by local talent. It aims to provide the reader with a comprehensive view of the short story.

Translating Words into Colors

Twenty-two artists from various artistic schools across the Sultanate participated in this project. Each artist selected a story with which they felt a strong emotional connection. The selected stories also needed to suit their specific personal artistic style. The project utilized the creative works of 18 different Omani writers. A total of 22 short stories were beautifully illustrated for the gallery walls. Visual artist Halima bint Khamis Al-Balushi heads the House of Reading Cultural Club. She proposed this joint literary and artistic collaboration to highlight the short story. "The main protagonist of this exhibition is the book," she explained proudly.

Breaking Free from Traditional Boundaries

The project addresses the idea of breaking free from the walls surrounding the reader. Visual artist Saleh bin Abdullah Al-Alawi described the exhibition as a chromatic translation. The characters from the stories appear visually to the recipient, renewing their imagination. Explore the rich culture and creative talents emerging from the Sultanate.
