Sohar University Inaugurates New Research Chairs and Capacity Building Center

Advancing Academic and Industrial Partnerships

Sohar University celebrated a major academic milestone today. The university inaugurated two strategic research chairs and a new skills development center. Dr. Saif bin Abdullah Al-Hadabi sponsored the official ceremony in Sohar. He serves as the Chairman of the Research and Innovation Authority. The event marked the launch of three distinct strategic partnerships. These partnerships reflect the university’s commitment to combining education with practical industry needs. Dr. Hamdan bin Sulaiman Al-Fazari is the President of Sohar University. He stated these initiatives expand the impact of academic research significantly.

Fostering Financial and Cultural Research

The first initiative is a national partnership with Sohar International. The Sohar International Chair focuses on financial research and sector intelligence. It aims to develop small and medium enterprises across the Sultanate. The center transforms raw economic data into practical knowledge for decision-makers. The second research chair involves an international partnership with India. The Omani-Indian Research Chair focuses on culture, arts, and trade. The Indian Council for Cultural Relations supports this bilateral academic platform. It opens new paths for knowledge exchange between Oman and India.

Bridging the Gap Between Education and Industry

The third initiative addresses the vital need for technical vocational training. Sohar University signed a memorandum of understanding with Jindal Steel Oman. They will operate the Jindal Skills Training Center on the university campus. This center combines industrial expertise with a structured academic environment. It builds the capabilities of national talent and prepares them for the labor market. The university continues to invest heavily in expanding national and international cooperation. These partnerships enhance the university’s role as a key development partner. Investing in youth skills aligns directly with the goals of Oman Vision 2040.
